113 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Possessing nearly six decades of experience, Aaron L. Day has cultivated a career of excellence. Specializing as a researcher in the field of genealogy, he primarily operates as an author, having published several books over the course of his career. These include “Locating Free African American Ancestors: A Beginner’s Guide” in 2003, “The Heritage of African Americans in Long Beach: Over 100 Years” in 2007 and “History Lessons” in 2013. Adjacent to his primary duties, Mr. Day is also dedicated to the field of education, having served as a volunteer lecturer at the Long Beach Public Library for many years. Mr. Day began his career in 1964, working as an instructor and Flexowriter operator at the Sunset House until 1969. He also accrued a wealth of success operating as an accounting supervisor for Alpine Electronics Inc., and as the commissioner for the Parks and Recreation Commission in California. As part of his dedication to his professional endeavors, Mr. Day remains affiliated with the Questing Heirs Genealogical Society and the African American Heritage Society of Long Beach, having previously served as the vice president of both organizations. Throughout his career, Mr. Day has continuously pursued a formal education, beginning his studies at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College, where he earned an Associate of Arts in accounting in 1975. He subsequently continued his academic career at the University of Phoenix, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1995. Well regarded for his numerous achievements, Mr. Day has been honored with several accolades, including the Mary Dell Butler Volunteer of the Year Award from the City of Long Beach, California, in 1999. In accounting for his many accomplishments, he is especially proud to have served as the first African American man to sit on the board of directors of the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library.
