As part of her dedication to her professional endeavors, she maintains membership with the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). To commemorate her performance in the field, Ms. Muessman was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award in 1997. Over the course of her career, Ms. Muessman has largely attributed her success to her passion, drive and perseverance. To this end, she has always strived for excellence and to learn as much as she can, in the hope that she will be able to better help others. In light of her numerous accomplishments, she is especially proud to have flourished in the field of education. In the coming years, Ms. Muessman hopes to grow more involved in charitable efforts alongside the NSDAR. With over 30 years of professional experience to her credit, Carolyn Rae Muessman has cultivated a career of excellence as a business owner and educator. She currently operates as the owner of Maple Crest Farm in Charleston, Illinois, which her family originally established in 1856. Dedicated to children’s education, she previously served as a biology and chemistry teacher at Lakeview High School in Lakeview, Michigan, for 30 years, retiring in 2012 to help her father with the farm. During her tenure at the high school, Ms. Muessman also served as the athletic director and assistant principal. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Muessman pursued her own formal education. After receiving her high school diploma in 1978, she began her collegiate career at Illinois State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry in 1982. Ms. Muessman subsequently continued her studies at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University before ultimately earning a master’s degree in education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1985.
