PETESCH, PHD PROFESSOR EMERITUS University of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA With over four decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Donald A. Petesch has cultivated a career of excellence in the field of education. He previously taught as a literature professor at the University of Pittsburgh for the majority of his career. Having retired from teaching in recent years, he currently maintains the title of professor emeritus at the university. During his time as an educator, Dr. Petesch specialized in Black literature, and he was the first professor at his university to teach the subject. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Petesch pursued a formal education, earning several degrees pertinent to his field, including a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in sociology and a PhD in English. In light of his achievements in the field, he was previously honored with several accolades, including a National Endowment for the Humanities postdoctoral research grant in Afro-American studies and a Fulbright teaching grant.
