RALPH G. PIFER Dr. Ralph G. Pifer cultivated a career of excellence serving as an associate professor of psychology and social science at Sauk Valley Community College from 1981 to 2011. He specialized in teaching the principles of psychology to nurses, medical, psychology, education and social science students over the years. Prior to joining the college, he worked as a vocational rehabilitation unit coordinator at the McKercher Rehabilitation Center. As part of his professional journey, Dr. Pifer has earned five academic degrees, including a Doctor of Naturopathic Psychology from the Kingdom College of Natural Health. Dr. Pifer is also well regarded for his scholarly output. He is proud to have authored over 20 papers in philosophy over the last 20 years and several books. These include “Michigan’s Western U.P.: An Old Professor’s Travel Guide of Twenty-Five Selected Locations” and an upcoming self-help text utilizing Stoic philosophy. Furthermore, Dr. Pifer has been active in civic advocacy, belonging to The Nature Conservancy, the Sierra Club, Green Peace and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In retirement, he continues to write, do photography and travel. Having accumulated several decades of professional experience, Raymond D. Roberson is a proven expert in the field of education. From 1983 to 2006, he served as an educator for the Houston Independent School District, where he specialized in world and United States history, government, economics and geography. Though he is retired from his work as an educator, Mr. Roberson continues to excel as an author, with his most recent book, “Presidential Maxims: Excellence in Leadership (Volume 1),” released in 2020. During his time with the Houston Independent School District, Mr. Roberson also operated as the chair of the social studies department from 1998 to 2022, and he was recognized as a lead teacher from 1995 to 1998 and between 2002 and 2003. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he was honored with the Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989, an achievement of which he is especially proud. Looking toward the future, Mr. Roberson hopes to continue publishing more books, with his third book expected to be released in the coming years. RAYMOND D. ROBERSON
