As part of his dedication to his profession, Dr. Oyakawa remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the California Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he has been honored with several accolades, including the HEED Award and an Award for Commitment and Dedication to Excellence in Training from the White Memorial Medical Center’s Department of Ophthalmology. Attributing much of his success to his medical training and the support of his wife, Dr. Oyakawa is especially proud to have earned accreditation from the White Memorial Medical Center in 1984. Possessing over 40 years of experience, Dr. Ray T. Oyakawa is a proven expert in the health care industry. Throughout his career, he has prioritized patient comfort and safety, using the most innovative methods available to achieve his goals in the field. As a general ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and LASIK surgery, he has served as the owner and president of Sharper Vision Centers in Torrance, California, since 1999. Dr. Oyakawa has operated with numerous hospitals and institutions since beginning his career in 1981, including The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, the North Anaheim Surgery Center in Anaheim, California, and White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Oyakawa cultivated a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at the University of Southern California in 1971 and an MD at the University of California San Francisco in 1976.
