Mr. Piper originally began his career in the field of engineering, working as an industrial engineer and department superintendent for many years. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Piper pursued a formal education at Carson-Newman University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977. As part of his dedication to his profession, he is also a former member of the American Society for Quality. Well regarded for his dedication and accomplishments in the field, as well, he has been honored with three Becton Awards from BD over the course of his tenure with the company. Adjacent to his primary professional duties, Mr. Piper further remains active within his local church. In light of his numerous achievements, Mr. Piper attributes much of his success to his nature as a proactive learner, which has helped him acquire many valuable skills throughout his career. He is especially proud to have led and developed a new BD manufacturing system, which utilizes a unique mapping system that is concentrated on safety, quality and delivery. This system has been applied to 65 of BD’s worldwide sites.
