49 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT With over three decades of experience to his credit, John D. Bowker cultivated a prosperous career in the radio and television industries from 1953 to 1986. He retired as the director of frequency management at RCA Corporation, one of the leading developers of electronics and communications technology. During his time with the company, Mr. Bowker was highly influential in the development of color television for the National Broadcasting Company (NBC). Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Bowker pursued a formal education at Middlebury College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physics in 1952. Before joining RCA, he was already well regarded for building a radio station in Middlebury, Vermont. During his graduate studies, he was contacted by RCA to join their television team at NBC channel 4. Mr. Bowker proudly worked with the company until they were eventually bought out by General Electric, at which point he decided to retire. In addition to his primary vocational duties, Mr. Bowker is acclaimed for his creative output. Since retiring, he has dedicated himself to writing and publishing a monthly news column on radio stations in the country, and he has printed two volumes regarding the history of Sun City Center, Florida. To wit, he is currently working on a third volume and video edition of his literary works. As part of his dedication to the field, Mr. Bowker previously held the position of chapter president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. In accounting for his numerous accomplishments in the field, Mr. Bowker attributes much of his success to his upbringing. He is especially proud to have worked with and influenced the trajectory of RCA over the course of his career. As part of his retirement, Mr. Bowker has been thankful to have traveled across the country and raised three wonderful children alongside his wife, Linda. JOHN D.
