118 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION From an early age, Ms. Hinkle was inspired to become an educator, having followed in the footsteps of her aunt, who taught students at James Madison University. To this end, Ms. Hinkle’s career has been vastly rewarding, having also helped numerous children through the early stages of their lives in both educational and personal capacities. In light of her accomplished career, she attributes much of her success to her faith. As part of her retirement, Ms. Hinkle has also taken to traveling, and she hopes to continue doing so in the coming years. With several decades of experience to her credit, Lois H. Hinkle is a proven leader in the field of education. Prior to retiring in 1991, she served as the elementary principal of the Montgomery County School Board. She also previously operated as an educational director, spending a cumulative 30 years in leadership roles within her field. Ms. Hinkle began her career as an elementary teacher for the Danville Public Schools, where she worked for seven years. Since retiring, she has spent much of her time focusing on creative pursuits in designing and sewing. Before embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Hinkle pursued her own formal education. She first attended James Madison University, formerly known as Madison College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She subsequently continued her studies at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, receiving a Master of Education in 1973. LOIS H.
