Focusing her attention specifically on sustainable development in worldwide countries, she has believed from early in her career that it may change the world dramatically with respect to the earth’s health and prosperity, as well as the well-being of humankind. Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Ms. Zubcevic first pursued a formal education at the University of Zagreb, from which she received a Bachelor of Science in linguistics and subsequently returned to her alma mater and earned a Master of Science in humanities and social sciences. At the inception of her career in 1990, Ms. Zubcevic entered the Government when Croatia was becoming an independent country and worked as a diplomat, accruing a wealth of success with the Republic of Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she served in a variety of roles, including as a diplomat and a minister plenipotentiary until 2008. Thereafter, Ms. Zubcevic joined the United Nations in New York, where she served from 2008 to 2016 as a senior sustainable development officer. In this prestigious role, she focused her efforts on sustainable development and aided in support of intergovernmental processes. Likewise, during this time, Ms. Zubcevic participated in the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 and engaged in supporting the agreement on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. From 2016 to 2021, Ms. Zubcevic also thrived as the director 1 of the Small Island Development States, Ocean and Climate Branch of the Division for Sustainable Development. Concurrent to this position, as well as presently, she has excelled as director 1 of the Intergovernmental Policy and Review of the Office of Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development within the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
