275 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Born in South Korea, Dr. Hyeryun Chung immigrated to the United States to pursue a formal education in medicine. Attending Stark State College, she first earned an associate degree in 1986. After spending several years in the field, she subsequently attended the New York College of Health Professions in Syosset, New York, receiving a master’s degree in Oriental medicine in 2002. During her studies, Dr. Chung founded her own business, Acupuncture & Wellness by Chung, in 2000. She has since served as the owner and acupuncturist, drawing upon her formative exposure to the industry by her grandfather and father-in-law, who were both acupuncturists in Korea. Recently, in 2014, Dr. Chung obtained a PhD from Liberty University to further her education in the field. To remain abreast of developments in the industry, she has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, such as the National Association for the Certification of Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine and the Georgia Association of Acupuncture and Asian Medicine. Now semi-retired and working at her company on a part-time basis, Dr. Chung previously treated between 20 and 25 patients per day. To this end, she emphasizes that the most gratifying experiences of her career have been witnessing her patients achieve optimal health through her services. Looking toward the future, Dr. Chung intends to place more emphasis on clean eating, particularly for children. She would ultimately like to educate students in various school systems on how to eat better. She lives and works by the motto, “Food is medicine.” She presently resides in Duluth, Georgia.
