281 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Having accumulated over two decades of experience, Dr. W. Joseph Gorum II is a leading expert in the health care industry. Specializing in orthopedic care, he has served as an orthopedic surgeon at W. Joseph Gorum, MD, P.C., in New York, where he offers surgical, non-surgical and arthroscopic treatments for patients with traumatic, occupational and sports-related injuries. Additionally, in 2022, Dr. Gorum founded the ISACSS Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that assists students entering the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Gorum pursued a formal education. While he was completing a fellowship in trauma and orthopedic surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, he also earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at Howard University. Furthermore, he achieved an MD at the Drexel University College of Medicine in 1997. Dr. Gorum subsequently completed both an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Drexel University College of Medicine in 1998 and 2002, respectively. As part of his dedication to his profession, Dr. Gorum regularly volunteers with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem. He also remains affiliated with the New York Medical Society and the King County Medical Society. He is a founding member of the Wilmington chapter of 100 Black Men of America Inc. Well regarded for his accomplishments in the field, Dr. Gorum was named among the Top Doctors in Orthopedic Surgery in 2022. Having always been encouraged by his parents to help others, Dr. Gorum naturally gravitated towards a career in health care. He is especially proud to have conducted research alongside Dr. Keita Lorenson. Their research was subsequently honored as one of the 100 Most Important Innovations in 2012.
