In addition to working as a hospitalist from 1995 to 1998, she was also the chief of the Infection Control Committee of a doctor’s hospital in Pinole, California, from 1990 to 1998. Dr. Oster originally began her career in 1985, serving as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, Davis until 1989. Before embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Oster cultivated her formal education. After earning a Bachelor of Science at the University of Colorado, she subsequently received an MD at the East Virginia Medical School in 1980. She later completed an internship at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in 1981 before returning to the East Virginia Medical School to complete her first residency in 1983. Dr. Oster also completed a residency at the VA Medical Center in 1983, and she later completed a fellowship at the institution in 1988. As part of her dedication to her profession, Dr. Oster remains affiliated with several industryrelated organizations, including the American Board of Internal Medicine. In her civic endeavors, she also volunteers with the Idaho State Historical Society, and she remains active as a flutist with the Mulligan Capital City Band and the Canyon County Flute Orchestra. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Oster was honored with the America’s Best in Medicine Award by the American Health Council in 2019. Attributing much of her success to her ability to connect and develop positive relationships with her patients, she is especially proud to have helped start the AIDS clinic at the VA Medical Center.
