He also hosted the “El Desayuno” morning radio show for 37 years, as well as “El Hit Parade de America,” which was broadcasted to over 60 radio stations across the United States, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Mr. Romero was inspired to pursue a career in radio and television broadcasting from an early age, having always enjoyed such shows as a child. He could often be found impersonating Hispanic radio personalities at home. In light of this fascination, his father decided to encourage his son’s interest, introducing him to a local radio announcer. After impressing this announcer by reading a piece of newswire material, Mr. Romero was subsequently invited to join the station for a news show. Leveraging his formal education in engineering and communications and his talents as an exceptionally hard worker, Mr. Romero has found a wealth of success along his vocational journey. In 2021, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame, and he was recognized with several accolades, including a Cortez Medal, Marconi Award, Legacy Award and DJ of the Year Award. Outside of his primary vocation, Mr. Romero is well regarded for his dedication to civic advocacy, regularly participating in charity work and hosting fundraising events. Furthermore, he has supported the March of Dimes and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for many years. In light of his accomplished career, he attributes much of his success to his perseverance, as well as the love and support of his family.
