57 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT and the Minnesota Farm Network in Minneapolis over the course of his career, until recently retiring in 2021. Throughout his time as a broadcaster, Mr. Kleven dedicated himself to providing his listeners and community with useful and reliable information pertaining to local agriculture and the farming profession. Adjacent to his radio broadcasting, Mr. Kleven has also operated as a columnist for various local newspapers, including the West Concord Messenger, since 2017. Much of his written work pertains to his memories of growing up in rural southeastern Minnesota. Well regarded for his contributions as a writer and broadcaster, Mr. Kleven has received several accolades, including National Awards for Agricultural Reporting in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and he was named Media Person of the Year in Nebraska in 2000. Prior to beginning his vocational journey, Mr. Kleven pursued a formal education, completing coursework in radio broadcasting and journalism at Brown Institute in Minneapolis and at Minnesota State University-Mankato. Using his skills in writing and broadcasting, he is an officer on the board of directors of the Historical Society Museum in his hometown, as well as a member of the Foundation Board that serves the Historical Society in Minnesota. Furthermore, Mr. Kleven served six years on the board of directors of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting and was president in 2005. Mr. Kleven attributes much of his success to the knowledge he has gained through the years, as well as his natural skills as a communicator. Though his career has been filled with many memorable moments, he fondly recalls he and his farm broadcasting colleagues being invited to The White House by former President Bill Clinton in May 2000. Since retiring, Mr. Kleven has enjoyed spending more time with his wife and grandchildren and focusing on his writing. Accruing over three decades of experience, Emery Kleven has cultivated a fulfilling career as a radio broadcaster and newspaper columnist. In 1987, he began working as a farm broadcaster with KDHL Radio in Faribault, Minnesota.
