Since 2017, he has served as a city council member for the city of Carrollton, Texas. He is the first Asian American to have been elected to this position and the first Korean American to hold such a seat in Northern Texas. Mr. Sung previously worked for many years as a farmer in his homeland of South Korea. After immigrating to the United States, Mr. Sung pursued a formal education at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, where he earned a Master of Business Administration. Demonstrating versatility in his professional endeavors, he is also a licensed master Korean interpreter and real estate broker, as well as a certified mediator. He attributes much of his success to his parents, who instilled in him a strong moral compass and a willingness to serve others. To this end, Mr. Sung is proud to serve as an advocate for the underserved Asian community in his city and region.
