Deriving great satisfaction from her work, she is often thrilled when witnessing her clients grow their businesses and find their own success in their communities. In the forthcoming years, she intends to continue helping her own community and allow her peers to become better citizens and leaders. Earlier in her career, Ms. Mers served as an independent international logistics consultant and translator between 1993 and 2006. Ms. Mers first completed coursework in hotel management at Beijing University in her home country of China before completing coursework in computer information systems at the Renmin University of China. She also holds a master’s degree. Immigrating to the United States in 1986, she was honored with the Top 10 Asian American Business Enterprise Award in 2019, the Fast 100 Asian American Business Award from the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation in 2018 and was named among the 25 Most Influential Asian Americans in Georgia by the Georgia Asian Times in 2018, among other accolades. Having accrued almost two decades of experience, Renee Sandford is a rising expert in the field of business administration. In 2020, she founded Star Power Group in Gambrills, Maryland, where she continues to operate as the chief executive officer. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the head of business development at Zillion Technologies Inc., from 2015 to 2022. Before embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Sandford pursued a formal education at the University of Maryland, earning a BS in business administration and management in 2015. In addition to her academic credentials, she also earned an executive education certificate and a business project manager certificate. To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Sandford was previously recognized with the Supplier of the Year Award by the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council in 2016. Adjacent to her primary vocation, she is also well regarded for her commitment to civic advocacy, regularly volunteering with the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
