As part of her vocational journey, Dr. Osborne cultivated a formal education. She has earned six degrees, including a BA in speech and language pathology and education and an MS from Lehman College, a BA and an MA in Christian theology from the Anchor Theological Seminary and Bible Institute, and an honorary DDiv from the Heart Bible Institute University (HBIU). She also received a Humanitarian Social Service Award from HBIU in 2020, as well as a Citation from the Connecticut General Assembly in 2020. Well regarded for her accomplishments, she attributes much of her success to the kind support and guidance of her mentors. In the coming years, Dr. Osborne hopes to continue expanding her ministry by incorporating more nonprofit initiatives, and she intends to continue dedicating herself to community outreach. With nearly four decades of experience, Dr. Velma Osborne is a proven expert in speech pathology and clinical divinity. Specializing as a speech and language pathologist, a clinical chaplain and a chaplain pastoral counselor, she has operated in various educational roles throughout her career. Dr. Osborne served as a speech improvement teacher full-time for the New York City Department of Education from 1983 to 2016. Concurrently, she contracted herself out as a speech and language therapist and consultant for the Lacombe Intermediate Facility in the Bronx, New York, from 1989 to 1995. Adjacent to her primary vocations, Dr. Osborne is an accomplished author, having published “Autobiography of Velma Osborne: Reflects on African American History” and her updated, revised version of “The Unstuffy Descriptive Leadership Book: Inclusive of Language Usage, Networking, Theories, Culture, as well as Funding of Business Enterprises” in 2021. Her autobiography received five seals from Reader’s Favorites, and her leadership book received four seals. Alongside her educational endeavors, she participates in local church affairs, serving with the elder clergy of the Greater Highway Deliverance Temple Church and as the president and founder of Healed by His Stripes Ministry Inc.
