394 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Kathy O’Keefe has excelled as the founder and executive director of Winning the Fight since 2010. Winning the Fight is an organization in Flower Mound, Texas, that provides drug education, support and resources to families and individuals struggling with addiction. Throughout her career, she has produced documentaries with respect to her area of expertise, including “Just Once,” a documentary detailing the addiction and recovery journeys of four parents and four youths. Additionally, she produced “Not Me,” a second documentary that follows eight different families with substance use disorders. Among her many career achievements, she is incredibly proud to have been invited to the White House in Washington, D.C., twice to speak on drug addiction. Earlier in her career, Ms. O’Keefe served in the sales and marketing industry for nearly four decades. In light of her success, she was named a Champion for Kids by the Lewisville Independent School District and received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Town of Flower Mound. Interviewed by various media and news outlets, she intends to premier Winning the Fight’s newest program, “Better Safe Than Sorry,” which will install biometric safes for medication dispensing. FOUNDER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Winning the Fight Flower Mound, TX Mitchell Samick has dedicated himself to nonprofit leadership and social work for the entirety of his career. As the inaugural program director of CASA of Fayette County in Pennsylvania, he is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children. Having worked with various CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and youth development programs since 2009, he specializes in collaborating with courts, children and families; developing budgets; and obtaining resources for nonprofit organizations. Adjacent to his primary duties, Mr. Samick remains affiliated with several industry-related associations, including the Fayette County Human Services Council. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Samick cultivated a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Master of Science in education from Saint Vincent College in 2003 and 2005, respectively. In addition to his academic credentials, he holds several noteworthy certifications. Well regarded for his professional commitment, he attributes much of his success to his dedicated work ethic and willingness to take on new challenges. In the coming years, Mr. Samick hopes to continue expanding the CASA program in Fayette County.
