396 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine TECHNOLOGY LESTER ROBERT “BOB” BEATTY OWNER, PEREGRINE LLC SYSTEMS ARCHITECT, IRS CERTIFIED TAX PREPARER Fort Wayne, IN With over six decades of experience to his credit, Lester Robert “Bob” Beatty has cultivated a career of excellence in the fields of information technology and tax preparation. He has owned Peregrine LLC since 2011, where he guides the company’s efforts in system planning, design and execution. Peregrine also has extensive experience in the fields of finance, securities, taxation, public relations and corporate communications. Prior to starting Peregrine, Mr. Beatty was director of information technology at Cincinnati Electronics, during which time he successfully merged five independent computer departments into one, allowing for better management of the company’s information technology while increasing productivity and reducing expenses. He also taught computer programming at the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio. In addition, Mr. Beatty worked with the Ohio Department of Education, where he managed the installation of a new $4 billion-dollar payment system for teachers, administrators and other employees. He also managed a new online securities system for CompuServe, allowing clients to view multiple information about securities. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Beatty is particularly proud to have played an instrumental role in the creation of NASDAQ. He personally designed the NASDAQ database and was the systems architect for the NASDAQ online systems and the NASDAQ Index. Mr. Beatty earned a BS in business and managerial economics from Carnegie Mellon University. During his studies, he had the idea that Carnegie should have a mascot. His idea was approved, and he became Carnegie’s first mascot, a Scottish terrier. The school has maintained the terrier motif for over 65 years. In 2007, Mr. Beatty and Carnegie President Cohon formally announced that Scottie was the official symbol of Carnegie. After graduating, Mr. Beatty served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and achieved the rank of first lieutenant.
