114 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Having accrued nearly three decades of experience, Melissa Ann Doucet has cultivated a career of excellence as an educator. Since 2016, she has served as a teacher at the Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she specializes in teaching English, Latin and history. While she primarily teaches Advanced Placement courses, she is also the head of the school’s English department. Mrs. Doucet also trains fellow teachers and leaders within the school. Prior to her current appointment, Mrs. Doucet operated as a teacher at the David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy for three years, and she previously worked in similar teaching roles at various schools and academies across Louisiana and Texas for 17 years. As part of her vocational journey, she pursued her own formal education, earning a bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Louisiana Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) in 1996. In addition to her academic credentials, Mrs. Doucet was certified as a curriculum developer in 2022 and was certified in writing for teenagers and young adults by the Institute of Children's Literature. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Mrs. Doucet was previously nominated for Teacher of the Year and Disney’s Creative Teacher of Year. She was also recognized as an Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars. In addition to her professional achievements, Mrs. Doucet is well regarded for her dedication to civic advocacy, regularly participating with the Beta Club and Catholic Charities of Acadiana. Mrs. Doucet naturally gravitated towards a career in education, knowing from a young age that she wanted to do nothing else but teach. In accounting for her many accomplishments, she attributes much of her success to the fellow teachers and students she has worked with throughout her career, many of whom have served as constant sources of inspiration.
