Boston, MA With nearly five decades of professional experience to his credit, James R. Holland Sr. has cultivated a career of excellence across a bevy of professional endeavors. He has remained chiefly involved in the real estate industry since 1975 when he began working as a real estate developer at Brownstone Properties Inc. in Boston. He also served as the president of the company prior to departing in 1977. He subsequently joined Street & Co. Inc., in 1878, where he operated as a real estate broker until 1982. Since then, Mr. Holland has held the position of president of A Bit of Boston Real Estate Inc., where he has managed and renovated numerous historic Boston brownstones. Adjacent to his real estate ventures, Mr. Holland has also maintained his passion for photography. Over the course of his career, he has contributed photographs to a plethora of publications in addition to publishing his own collected books, such as “The Amazon” in 1971, “Tanglewood” in 1972, “Adventure Photographer” in 2009 and “Fisheyes” in 2011. Furthermore, as part of his creative endeavors, he has also authored several other books, including “W.O’K's Weird Wacky Wonderful World: The Art of William O'Keefe” in 2006, “Santa's Elves Revolt” in 2008, “Waffle: A Beacon Hill Dog” in 2009 and “A Conversation With a Boston Collector on Picasso, Dali and Much More” in 2018. Mr. Holland is also an accomplished filmmaker, having worked extensively as a documentary editor and producer. As a film critic and columnist, he has also worked with Basil & Spice, a partner of McClatchy-Tribune News Service, since 2009. Mr. Holland’s films have been broadcasted and televised on such notable networks as NBC, ABC, PBS, BBC and the Travel Channel. In light of his artistic accomplishments, he has been honored with many accolades over the course of his career, including the USA Book News Award for 2008 and 2009, a Bronze Medal from the International Film and TV Festival in New York in 1971, and the Newsweek/Bolex Documentary Film Award in 1969. Mr. Holland was also named as one of Amazon’s Top 500 Reviewers between 2007 and 2010.
