181 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS Drawing upon nearly five decades of professional experience, Becky Harper Davis excelled as the owner of Becky’s Beauty Salon from 1962 until her retirement in August 2021. Prior to embarking on her career, she applied to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with the intent of becoming a teacher. However, desiring to alter her career ambitions, she matriculated at the Valdosta School of Cosmetology. Ms. Davis graduated as a licensed master cosmetologist and cut hair under the guidance of Virginia Pierce until Ms. Pierce took a sabbatical from cosmetology. From there, Ms. Davis bought the business and rebranded it under her own name. Outside of her primary career endeavors, Ms. Davis is recognized as a civic-minded citizen, having served as the entertainment chair of the annual Alapaha Station Celebration in Alapaha, Georgia, since 1981. Additionally, she has been an actress and choir member for the Alapaha Easter Passion Play and a co-organizer of Alapaha’s Country Christmas. For her esteemed efforts in volunteerism, Ms. Davis was honored by The Lion’s Club for her community service. Furthermore, Ms. Davis is a lay Eucharistic minister, lector, CCD teacher, outreach participant and the director of various Christian plays at her local church, the St. Ann Catholic Church. For these activities, she was also bestowed with the Bishop Gartland Service Award from the Diocese of Savannah in 2004. Additionally, she co-authored alongside Jeremy Roberts the manuscript “Footprints of Early Alapaha Settlers,” which documented local Catholic heritages with the inclusion of interviews, research and photographs. Ms. Davis is currently working on a sequel to her manuscript, which will detail Alapaha citizens for the Berrien Historical Foundation alumni. In accounting for her success, Ms. Davis credits her faith in God, her diligent work ethic and her ability to treat her clients with respect. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue her avocational activities, which include spending time with her family and friends, attending concerts and maintaining her garden.
