Mr. Dowty originally began his career in 1968, working in technical services at J.M. Huber Corporation until 1972. Mr. Dowty is also an accomplished writer, having authored several books throughout his career. He published his first book, the best-selling “Financial Success for the Smiling Retiree,” in 2016. This title subsequently received a second edition reprint in 2019, alongside his second book, “Tax Secrets for the Smiling Retiree: Get Control of Your Biggest Expense,” now in its second edition. He also served as an executive producer for the 2021 documentary film “The Baby Boomer Dilemma.” He is a featured expert in the 2023 documentary “The Retirement Deception,” and the developer of “Untaxed Family Wealth Smiling Retiree Process, 9 Steps to a Successful Retirement” and “Untaxed Family Wealth Smiling Retiree Tax Checklist, 199 Ways to Save Taxes.” He is also the founder of the Susan and Navi Dowty Charitable Foundation. Mr. Dowty earned a BS in paper science and engineering at Western Michigan University in 1968. Additionally, he is a Certified Tax Specialist and formerly held membership with the CCIM Institute, CFP Institute and CFA Institute.
