Employing approximately 50 individuals, Schafer Hardwood Flooring has grown by 50% in 2022 alone and has a revenue of $5 million. In her role as vice president, Ms. Schafer interfaces with architects in relation to technical information of their products, as well as helps builders navigate solutions with their hardwood flooring. Emphasizing that construction is a largely male-dominated industry, Ms. Schafer is one of few highly successful women working in the field in light of her keen understanding of the different species of hardwood and their capabilities. She also notes that her foray into the construction and manufacturing industry was evident from a young age, having always enjoyed carpentry. Earlier in her career, Ms. Schafer served as an insurance agent with the Gurdjian Insurance Group Inc., between 2000 and 2008. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in business from Ohio University, which she received in 1991. Outside of her primary efforts, she dedicates much of her time to civic involvement, having served as a board member of the Croswell Opera House. She is also a member of the National Wood Flooring Association and was the first female president of the Rotary Club in Tecumseh. Ms. Schafer attributes much of her success to her mentors, George Celtrick and her husband, Scott. She says that those two individuals tutored her in several aspects of the industry, which she has since applied with her diligent work ethic to attain the revered position she is recognized in today. Ms. Schafer defines success as having a good reputation, both professionally and personally. D rawing upon more than 20 years of professional experience, Laura A. Schafer is a seasoned executive within the construction industry.
