During this time, he discovered his love for nature photography and received a grant to study the discipline and become trained in the field. Since 2001, he has excelled as a nature photographer with his eponymously named company, Zurey Photography LLC. To prepare for his career, Dr. Zurey pursued a formal education at the University of WisconsinMadison, from which he received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in metallurgical engineering in 1965 and 1966, respectively. After many years of excelling in the engineering industry, he returned to higher education. In 1977, he graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a PhD in metallurgical engineering. Alongside his primary endeavors with his photography business, Dr. Zurey has also served as the awards and contest chairman for Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers since 2005. Additionally, he has maintained active affiliation with a myriad of organizations, including the North American Nature Photography Association, the Center for Fine Art Photography, the Texas Photographic Society and the Colorado Photographic Arts Center. Among the many highlights of his career, Dr. Zurey is especially proud of entering juried gallery shows and exposing the civilians of Golden, Colorado, to his photography. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue witnessing the growth and success of his photography career. Married to his late wife for 55 years, he is the proud father of two children, Deanna and Frank. He also has two granddaughters, Emily and Katie. D r. Frank Thomas Zurey is a retired engineering professional and current nature photographer. Drawing upon 30 years of expertise in engineering, he previously served as an engineering manager of the Rocky Flats Plant in Colorado between 1969 and 1999.
