91 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine BUSINESS SERVICES, CONSULTING AND HUMAN RESOURCES With more than four decades of practiced expertise to his credit, Jack Akram Matalka has cultivated a prosperous career in public administration and farming. Leveraging 20 years of experience serving with the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board, he has operated as the manager of Olde Towne Travel since 1994. Coming from a lineage of farmers in his homeland of Madaba, Jordan, Mr. Matalka has also worked as a farmer at Jack Matalka Farming in Sacramento, California, since 2019. Mr. Matalka immigrated to the United States when he was 16 years old and immediately set himself to the task of becoming a productive citizen. As part of his vocational journey, he served in the United States military between 1960 and 1963. After being honorably discharged, he pursued a formal education, earning a bachelor’s degree in collective behavior and sociology and a Master of Public Administration from California State University. As part of his career in public administration, Mr. Matalka worked extensively for former Governor Jerry Brown in 1975. He assisted in the creation of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act, which protects farmworkers and their ability to organize for collective bargaining with unions and other associations. Always searching for methods to improve his farm, Mr. Matalka finds a great deal of success in peace of mind and knowing he is doing all he can for himself, his family and his colleagues. To this end, he attributes much of his success to his dedicated work ethic and ability to set and achieve his goals. Throughout his career, Mr. Matalka has held his work with the Agricultural Labor Relations Board in high regard, as it helped revolutionize how farmers in California work in the field. Furthermore, he is especially proud to have raised four successful children. In the coming years, Mr. Matalka hopes to remain in good health and continue shaping better working conditions for farmers.
