Specializing in music education, she has operated as a private music teacher at Make A Joyful Noise Music Studio in Fairfield, California, since 2010. She currently teaches over 30 students, offering individual classes online and in person. Ms. Gaut is deeply dedicated to student mentoring and music advocacy. In addition to her current appointment, Ms. Gaut served as a school board trustee in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District from 2016 to 2020. She previously taught as a music teacher in the district from 1987 to 2012 and worked as a school nurse between 1967 and 1969. As part of her dedication to her profession, Ms. Gaut has maintained her membership with several industry-related organizations, including the Fairfield-Suisun Unified Teachers Association, the California Teachers Association and the Fairfield-Suisun Arts Council. Before embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Gaut pursued her own formal education, beginning with her time at Chico State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1965. She subsequently continued her studies at Sacramento State University and Saint Mary’s University, earning credentials in public health nursing and life teaching, respectively. Well regarded for her professional and academic achievements, she has been honored with several accolades throughout her career, including a Woman of the Year Award and being named Teacher of the Year by the Fairfield Union Teacher’s Association for 2008 and 2009. In accounting for her numerous accomplishments, Ms. Gaut attributes much of her success to her dedicated work ethic and caring nature towards others. She naturally gravitated towards a career in music, having grown up in a village where nearly everyone was a musician. In the near future, Ms. Gaut hopes to travel to Africa, Spain and Austria and visit musical cathedrals where old compositions have been written and stored.
