115 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where she was the director of its English Language Institute, in addition to coordinating and teaching in several annual short-term language-intensive summer travel and business programs. Additionally, Ms. Link-Farajali taught at Towson University for 20 years. Before that, she worked at Baltimore City Community College, where she simultaneously taught ESL and coordinated a refugee job training grant. She similarly taught ESL to refugees in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where she eventually met the man who would become her loving husband. She previously moved to Maryland after graduate school to accept a position in the U.S. Excepted Service at the National Security Agency (NSA) for five years, working as a French linguist and course evaluator in the National Cryptologic School. Ms. Link-Farajali holds a BA in French and a certificate in international relations from the University of Rochester, where she also studied voice at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. She ultimately achieved an EdM in foreign language instruction at the University at Buffalo in 1982. Furthermore, she is certified to teach French and social studies in the state of New York. To commemorate her achievements, Ms. Link-Farajali has been honored with numerous accolades, including receiving a cash award from the NSA and being named an Outstanding Teacher by Baltimore City Community College in 2009. She attributes her success to her specially designed courses and programs, which merge her own experiences and talents with the needs and abilities of her students. Likewise, she remains open to learning from many varied international voices. To this end, she is continually inspired by her students at Johns Hopkins University, and she feels incredibly humbled and gratified to offer even a modicum of assistance in their development and education. Enjoying a distinguished and varied career, Denise Link-Farajali currently serves as a lecturer and senior English as a second language (ESL) consultant at Johns Hopkins University in the Whiting School of Engineering’s Center for Leadership Education. Having been with Hopkins for over 21 years, she is well-regarded for her expertise and the personalized attention she weaves into each session to make her international students feel at home.
