286 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS With nearly four decades of experience, Barbara K. Huning has cultivated a career of excellence in the health care industry. Specializing in psychotherapy and emotional wellness coaching, she has served as a licensed psychologist for much of her career, which she began in 1985. Since 2011, she has served as the owner and licensed clinician of Nature-Centered Counseling & Education LLC, where she provided services as an independent contractor in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy team at Highland Meadows Counseling Center from 2015 to 2021 and with LynLakes Psychotherapy and Wellness from 2022 to 2023. She also served as a staff psychologist for Morningsong Therapy Center in 2022. In 2023, she founded Nature’s Gate LLC, a new private practice featuring advanced integrative specialty services. Prior, Ms. Huning was the clinical supervisor of Family and Children’s Center from 2007 to 2008 and clinical supervisor of Riverfront Counseling from 2012 to 2015. She also served as a program coordinator for the Institute for Global Education from 2009 to 2012, during which time she oversaw initiatives for Project NatureConnect, a graduate program in Applied Ecopsychology. She also remains affiliated with the American Counseling Association and American Psychological Association. Ms. Huning previously pursued a formal education, earning a BA in psychology at Earlham College in 1981 and an MA in psychodynamics and psychotherapy at Antioch University in 1985. In addition, she holds several certifications, including as a licensed psychologist in Minnesota. She was previously licensed as an independent substance abuse counselor in Arizona and has been a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification Certified Clinician since 2021. Ms. Huning maintains dedication to civic and animal advocacy, serving as a board member of the Anna Lake Animal Sanctuary. Attributing her success to her drive and passion for helping her clients recover, she is proud of the high-quality therapy she provides for her patients. In her new naturecentered practice, Nature’s Gate, she integrates ecotherapy, somatic therapy and Qigong Therapeutic Exercise with DBT interventions in the treatment of complex trauma.
