Though he initially retired from his work as a professional pilot to raise his children, he has served as the owner and president of Down to Earth Aerial Imaging since 2015. Specializing in both manned and unmanned aviation, he now excels at flying drones, and he is the only pilot within his company to do so. Adjacent to his primary professional duties, Mr. Friend also handles the finances of his company, and he previously operated with the Kohler Co. for many years. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Friend pursued a formal education. Beginning his studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he first earned an associate degree in 2006. Having already begun his career, Mr. Friend was encouraged to subsequently pursue a bachelor’s degree, which he achieved in 2015 at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In addition to his professional and academic accomplishments, Mr. Friend is also well regarded for his commitment to civic advocacy. To this end, he is a master mason within his local Masonic Lodge. Outside of his professional interests, Mr. Friend is an avid woodworker, regularly teaching courses in the craft during his free time. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to the love and support of his father. Mr. Friend is especially proud to have earned five type ratings over the course of his career as a pilot, each one pertaining to an airplane built by a different manufacturer. DAVID R.
