She then received an MA in college student counseling and personnel services at the Teachers College of Columbia University, as well as an MSW and a DSW from the School of Social Work at Adelphi University. Notably, Dr. Glassman has authored numerous publications on social work field education and presented her papers at international conferences. Among the highlights of her career, she is especially proud of being the principal investigator of an HRSA training grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 2014 to 2021, totaling $3.3 million to train nearly 250 master’s degree in social work students in New York City. Dr. Glassman is a co-founder of the Council of Social Work Education’s annual Field Education Symposium and has been a member of the International Association for Social Work with Groups since the organization commenced in 1978. Drawing upon over 50 years of professional experience in social work and education, Dr. Urania Ernest Glassman excels as the interim dean for the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in New York. As part of her daily responsibilities, she manages the school of approximately 1,000 students alongside other administrative tasks. Earlier in her career, Dr. Glassman served as an assistant director, then director, of the group work program at the House Plan Association of City College, having thereafter served as a faculty member and director of field instruction at the School of Social Work at Adelphi University. Subsequently joining Yeshiva University in 1993, she was the director of field instruction at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work before attaining her current appointment. She has also served the school as a clinical professor and maintains a private psychotherapy practice as a licensed clinical social worker. Before embarking on her career, Dr. Glassman studied at Hunter College, where she majored in philosophy before transitioning to studies DR.
