Ms. Oliver largely focuses on developing the college’s global reach and its evolving disciplines, which include architecture, interior architecture and industrial design, environmental design, and landscape urbanism. Adjacent to her primary duties, Ms. Oliver is also the founder of the designLAB, which serves as the master planning consultant for the university. Before rising to her current leadership position, she served as the senior vice president of educational planning and architecture at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, from 1992 to 2008. At the onset of her career, Ms. Oliver excelled as a professor and associate dean at the College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic from 1981 to 1992. Ever dedicated to her profession, Ms. Oliver maintains affiliation as a fellow of The American Institute of Architects. She is the chancellor of the Associate of Collegiate Schools of Architecture College of Distinguished Professors. Prior to beginning her vocational journey, Ms. Oliver charted formal education at the University of California Los Angeles, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts in independent studies and a Master of Architecture in 1977. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Oliver has been honored with several accolades over the course of her career, including AIA Houston Educator of the Year and the Award for Outstanding Educational Contribution by the Texas Society of Architects. Reflecting on her fulfilling career, she has largely attributed her success to her tenacity, passion and quality education. In the coming years, Ms. Oliver looks forward to a legacy of enduring impact on the college and the university.
