Before beginning her vocational journey, Dr. Persaud cultivated her formal education. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology at Stony Brook University in 2007 on a pre-med track, she subsequently attended the American University of Antigua and achieved a medical degree in 2013. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Persaud is a certified research coordinator, having been recognized by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Outside of her primary profession, Dr. Persaud remains active as a donor for the GBS/ CIDP Foundation International. She also enjoys spending her time on extracurricular activities with her kids. Notably, Dr. Persaud is serving as the PTA president of her children’s school and is involved in many fundraising efforts. In light of her fulfilling career, she largely attributes her success to the love and support of her husband and parents, as well as the guidance of her mentors. Bolstered by nearly a decade of professional experience, Dr. Sariah S. Ramoutar-Persaud is a rising expert in the health care industry specifically within clinical research. Since 2021, she has operated as the executive director of clinical operations at Applied Therapeutics in New York. Applied Therapeutics — an innovative biotech company — specializes in creating novel treatments for patients with unmet medical needs. Leveraging her expertise, Dr. Persaud is responsible for overseeing the operational planning and execution of safe and effective clinical trials for new drugs. Experienced in various therapeutic disciplines, such as rare diseases, infectious disease, orthopedics, ophthalmology, cardiology and oncology, Dr. Persaud has taken on multiple leadership roles throughout her career. She previously worked at Regeneron in Tarrytown, New York, where she served as clinical study lead on a Phase I-II study between 2020 and 2021. She also served as the director of clinical research for orthopedic surgery at Northwell Health in Lake Success, New York, from 2019 to 2021.
