49 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT With five decades of professional experience to his credit, Alan Barcus has cultivated a career of excellence in the music and performance industries. Since the onset of his career in 1973, he has excelled as a composer, lyricist and playwright for Old Harrier Music, which serves as the music branch of The Music and Theatre Company. In addition to working with fellow artists such as Richard Henry Marx, Mr. Barcus served as a director and keyboard player for numerous shows and musicals at the local Playboy Club in Indiana. Over the course of his career, Mr. Barcus has released and performed a plethora of music. He most recently served as the playwright, lyricist and composer of his 2019 rendition of “Lords of the Levee.” The same year, he released his album, “Don’t I Know,” which was released by Old Harrier Music. One of Mr. Barcus’s earliest albums came in 1963, the “Alan Barcus Trio Album,” as part of his work with his original jazz trio. As part of his commitment to his profession, Mr. Barcus remains active as a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the American Federation of Musicians. He also previously pursued a formal education at Indiana State University, where he thrived as an athlete in track and field and achieved both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business and finance. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Barcus was honored by the Dal Segno Society of the Chicago Federation of Musicians in 2009 and inducted into the Hall of Fame at Indiana State University in 1999. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his dedicated work ethic and the support of his family, particularly his parents, who heavily influenced his love of music and sports.
