Ms. Mahon previously served as senior director of education at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California from 2015 to 2019. Additionally, she was regional programs manager for the Music Center; Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County from 2011 to 2015 and associate educator of teacher and performance programs at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California from 2008 to 2011. She originally began her career in 2003 as an apprentice program administrator at the Amarillo Opera in Amarillo, Texas. In her creative pursuits, Ms. Mahon performed as a soprano soloist for the All Saints Episcopal Choir, Beverly Hills from 2005 to 2011. She also sang with the LA Master Chorale and performed as lead soprano for the five-part jazz group Crescendo in Los Angeles, California. Currently, she performs with the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale and is publishing a children’s book, “You Are No Dragon,” to be released in Spring 2023. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Mahon pursued a formal education, attending Duquesne University and achieving a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance in 2002. Ms. Mahon attributes much of her success to her persistence, her grateful spirit and sincere desire to learn. She was inspired to pursue a career in the arts after visiting England when she was 11 years old, during which time she discovered a plethora of museums, musicals and cultural exhibits. Looking toward the future, Ms. Mahon hopes to continue having a positive impact on others as a leader in the non-profit administration field. Bolstered by over 20 years of professional experience, Emily E. Mahon is a proven expert in the fields of non-profit administration and informal education. Since 2019, she has served as the education director for the Discovery Center of Idaho, located in Boise, Idaho.
