315 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine SOCIAL SERVICES AND NONPROFIT Deboraha L. Sallee leverages over six decades of professional experience as an expert in the fields of civic advocacy and community organization. Since 1985, she has served as the president of the Greater Battle Creek chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute. The organization is dedicated to civil and workers’ rights, and they strongly advocate for political and social freedom and economic justice. Ms. Sallee originally joined the organization in 1973, and she was the first vice president of her chapter. In her other civic-minded endeavors, Ms. Sallee served as a board member of the Historic District Commission of Battle Creek, Michigan. She also worked with the Service Employees International Union for four years, serving as both a secretary and president during that time. Furthermore, with her keen focus on history, she was a bookkeeper for the accounting department of the City of Battle Creek for several years in the late 1960s and early 1970s. As part of her vocational journey, Ms. Sallee pursued a formal education, completing coursework in accounting toward an associate degree. She also remains active as a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), having spent much of her life battling against racial injustice. Mr. Sallee also worked with the Battle Creek Area Urban League (now the Urban League of Battle Creek). In light of her fulfilling career, Ms. Sallee is especially proud to have led her chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute for many years. Additionally, she has found equal fulfillment in her fundraising efforts alongside her husband for the many groups with which she has worked throughout her career. In the coming years, Ms. Sallee hopes to find a successor for her position at the Institute, and after doing so, she looks forward to retiring. Millennium Magazine Featured Listee DEBORAHA L.
