104 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Leveraging over 15 years of professional experience, Eric L. Jackson is a rising leader in the field of education. Since 2020, he has excelled as the vice president and chief of staff at West Virginia State University (WVSU). In these roles, he acts as a liaison between the institution’s Board of Governors and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission. He also oversees the college’s research offices, IT staff and other operations, such as marketing and communications. Mr. Jackson previously served as the director of the university’s Title III programs and budget office from 2018 to 2020. Furthermore, he was involved in policy review and development for a federal grant program specific to historically Black colleges and universities. Before beginning his vocational journey, Mr. Jackson pursued a formal education, beginning with his time at WVSU, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature in 2004. He subsequently attended Strayer University and achieved an MPA in 2012 and an MBA in 2018. Mr. Jackson additionally holds several certifications pertinent to his field, including in grant and project management and in diversity and inclusion practices. As part of his dedication to his professional endeavors, Mr. Jackson has remained affiliated with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He also serves his community as a civic-minded citizen, regularly participating with youth league boards and formerly volunteering as a member of his local Sub Area Planning Committee. To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Jackson has received several accolades from WVSU, and he was named Mentor of the Year by Minority Access, Inc., in 2019. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Jackson has attributed much of his success to his upbringing, having been taught to tirelessly help others. To this end, he is unafraid of new challenges and taking on tasks others might turn away from. Looking toward the future, Mr. Jackson intends to continue serving in education while also growing as a corporate executive and working alongside nonprofit organizations.
