Though the store closed its doors in 2018, she continues to thrive as a musician today, writing and performing music for others in her community. Ms. Griswold originally began her career as a piano teacher at the Westminster Conservatory of Music, as part of Rider University, in Princeton, New Jersey, from 1981 to 1988. Furthermore, she was a staff accompanist at New Jersey City University between 1991 and 1997. As part of her dedication to her professional interests, she also remains active as an honorary member of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Griswold cultivated her own formal education, beginning at Carleton College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 1965. She subsequently continued her studies at the Manhattan School of Music and achieved a Master of Music in piano performance in 1971. Throughout her career, Ms. Griswold has been particularly proud to have recorded music from William Thomas McKinley, an American composer and jazz pianist from New Kensington, Pennsylvania. She would later commission and record several other pieces from Mr. McKinley, each of which played a huge role in her career. In accounting for her accomplishments, she has largely attributed her success to her mother, who invested in her education. In the coming years, Ms. Griswold hopes to continue recording music, especially from other influential women composers and artists. V ictoria “Vicky” Griswold leverages more than 40 years of professional experience as a leader in the music industry. In 1994, she took on the ownership of the Plainfield Music Store in New Jersey, where she curated and sold classical sheet music.
