245 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Anthony T. Yeung leverages nearly 45 years of professional experience as a leader in the health care industry. Specializing in orthopedic surgery, he was the first to perform spine surgery as a U.S. Navy lieutenant commander and chief of orthopedics at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Subic Bay, Philippines, after spending the final year of his orthopedic residency in children’s pediatric spinal deformity and cerebral palsy. He joined The Orthopedic Clinic in Phoenix before establishing his own private practice and opened the first Spine ASC in Arizona. He continued his pediatric and spinal surgery focus in private practice before retiring in 2019. Dr. Yeung was a member of local, state, regional, national and international spine organizations, where he served as president of the Maricopa County Medical Society and the Arizona Orthopedic Society. He was an active member of the Arizona Medical Association, Western Orthopedic Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society. As a leader in the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, focusing on minimally invasive spine care, he became the executive director of the International Intradiscal Therapy Society. He has trained spine surgeons from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, India and South America. Internationally well-regarded for his expertise, Dr. Yeung has published over 200 articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed publications and journals pertaining to endoscopic spine surgery over the course of his career. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he has been honored with accolades as a Health Care Hero and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Mexican Endoscopic Society, Asian Pacific Community in Action, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and a Distinguished Alumnus Award at the 50th anniversary celebration of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, establishing an endoscopic spine center at UNM with a $2.5 million gift. He is proud to have advanced spinal surgical approaches and techniques, with his own surgical method, the Yeung Percutaneous Endoscopic Decompressive procedure, with a trademarked technique (YESS) for lumbar and thoracic disc herniations, reflecting his surgical art, philosophy and unique technique in minimally invasive spine care.
