He originally joined the institution in 1986, working as an associate medical examiner for two years. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Nelms served as a pathologist for Colquitt Regional Pathology LLC in Moultrie, Georgia, from 2005 to 2015. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Nelms pursued a formal education, beginning with his time at the Rice Institute (now Rice University), where he earned a BA in chemistry and pre-medicine in 1958. He subsequently continued his studies at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and achieved an MD. Concluding his academic career, Dr. Nelms completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. In addition to becoming board certified in anatomic, clinical and forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Nelms also holds a license as a Coast Guard captain, having served among the three out of 33 examinees to have passed the qualification exam. Furthermore, during his time at the Fishermen’s Community Hospital in Marathon, Florida, he served on the board of the institution. Since retiring, Dr. Nelms has remained active as a prolific writer. To this end, he published his first book, “In the Shadows,” in 2019, which dissects the historical development of ideas, secret organizations, and the concepts of globalism and patriotism. Furthermore, as part of his ongoing dedication to his professional endeavors, he remains active as a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon, the national honorary chemical society. Dr. Nelms attributes much of his success to his honesty and accuracy, and though he recounts many professional achievements, he is especially proud to have raised his seven children. With nearly five decades of professional experience to his credit, Bob Nelms has cultivated a career of excellence in the health care industry.
