117 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Molly Winslow Tartt possesses over 30 years of experience in the field of education. Now retired for 20 years, she previously served as an educator for the Transylvania County Schools in North Carolina for much of her career, specializing in elementary education. She also briefly taught students at Medora Elementary School in Louisville, Kentucky, for one year. Ms. Tartt has remained active as the vice president of the Retired Teachers of Transylvania County since 2013. With a lengthy history of civic advocacy, Ms. Tartt has continued to serve her community as a volunteer in her retirement. To this end, she is a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and has volunteered for the North Carolina Forest Service and The People’s Tree program. She also maintains membership with organizations such as the National Education Association and the National Certificate of Educational Achievement. Ms. Tartt also dedicates much of her time to her endeavors as a writer and poet. Well-regarded for her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Tartt is especially proud to have been nominated as Teacher of the Year in 1993 by her peers. Prior to beginning her vocational journey, she pursued her own higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science at Murray State University in 1964 and completing additional coursework in elementary education at Western Carolina University. After teaching swimming lessons to children with disabilities for several years, Ms. Tartt naturally gravitated toward a career as an educator. In light of her fulfilling career, she largely attributes her success to the influence of her parents, who taught her many strong values that proved invaluable over the course of her career. Looking toward the future, Ms. Tartt hopes to find a new passion and continue serving as a source of inspiration to others.
