187 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY following three years until her retirement in 2015, Ms. Jackson-Hardwick was a military services coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Department of Defense. As a federal employee, she maintained responsibility for accounts receivable as an educational clerk, having also been recognized as a benefits counselor and a veterans’ service representative. To prepare for her career, Ms. JacksonHardwick pursued a formal education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. Receiving a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1981, she subsequently attended college numerous years later to complete her education. In 2015, she earned a Master of Arts in management and leadership from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Jackson-Hardwick served for over 20 years as a member and youth director of the Vacation Bible School of the Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, as well as the Community Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas. Presently, Ms. Jackson-Hardwick excels as the president of the El Paso branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (more commonly known as the NAACP) and a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served as past president. In accounting for her success, she credits the influence of her father, who taught her the value of a diligent work ethic and a passion for helping others. She has since leveraged her affinity for helping individuals to build lasting relationships with the veterans whom she served over the years. In the coming years, Ms. Jackson-Hardwick intends to continue serving others in a civic capacity. She lives and works by the motto, “If I can help somebody, then my labor would not be in vain.” Serving the Department of Veterans Affairs for over 30 fruitful years, Doris Laverne Jackson-Hardwick began her employment with the department in 1983, serving as a file clerk until 1998. From there, she served as a veteran services representative with the Veterans Administration Regional Office from 1998 to 2012.
