223 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Possessing over 15 years of experience in medicine and 20 years of experience in military service, Dr. Booker T. King has excelled as the division chief of burn surgery, the medical director of the Burn ICU and a professor in the Division of Burn Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2020. Previously serving the Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg as the trauma medical director, he also served as the director of the clinical division of the U.S. Army Burn Center at Joint Base San Antonio and as an associate program director at the Brooke Army Medical Center. Earlier in his career, Dr. King was involved in health care services with the U.S. Army, having served as the theater trauma director for Operation Inherent Resolve, chief medical officer of the 528th Hospital Center in Iraq, and U.S. military theater burn consultant and staff trauma surgeon for the 31st and 115th Combat Support Hospital during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Likewise, Dr. King was involved as a staff ICU intensivist for the 86th Combat Support Hospital during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, having formerly served in the Army Reserve Medical Corps between 1995 and 1999. During his service, he also traveled to Bosnia and Germany. For his accomplishments, he earned Legion of Merits in 2018 and 2020; Meritorious Service Medals in 2005, 2012 and 2019; Army Commendation Medals in 2003, 2015 and 2017; and the Army Achievement Medal in 2001. To prepare for his career, Dr. King first earned a BS in biomedical sciences, magna cum laude, from the City College of New York in 1992. He then received an MD from the New York University School of Medicine in 1994, followed by a general surgery residency at SUNY Buffalo and a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Holding medical licenses in numerous U.S. states, he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Looking forward, Dr. King intends to help renovate the Jaycee Burn Center. BOOKER T.
