227 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Leveraging over a decade of professional experience, Dr. Rachel LaMonica is a rising leader in the health care industry. For much of her career, she has served as a physician and gynecologist, primarily working with Progressive Women’s Health, a part of Women’s Health Connecticut. As part of her practice of general gynecology, she specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. LaMonica has also operated as a physician and fellow at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, as part of Hartford HealthCare, where she previously completed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery in 2018. Adjacent to her primary duties, Dr. LaMonica has established herself as an accomplished author. She has co-authored a wealth of work for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, including the 2017 essay, “Does the Difference in Fascial Closure Technique Affect Postoperative Pain,” and the 2016 essay, “Incidence of Septate Uterus in Reproductive-Aged Women With and Without Endometriosis.” Much of Dr. LaMonica’s performance in the field was born of her academic journey. She began her collegiate studies at Stony Brook University, where she earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. She subsequently continued her studies at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and achieved a DO. Shortly thereafter, Dr. LaMonica completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. In light of her accomplishments in the field, Dr. LaMonica was honored with an award for Excellence in Laparoscopic Surgery. In accounting for her achievements, she largely attributes her success to the guidance of her peers and colleagues, as well as her drive and determination to thrive in her industry. She particularly enjoys the continuity afforded to her in the field of gynecologic surgery, which allows her the luxury of meeting with her patients both before and after their procedures. Looking toward the future, Dr. LaMonica hopes to continue her work as an independent health care provider and earn a master’s degree in clinical and translational research.
