She subsequently continued her studies and received a Master of Social Work from Boston University and a Master of Science in public health from Harvard University. Dr. Gibbons ultimately concluded her academic career at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, achieving a PhD in sociology in 2002. Committed to her industry, Dr. Gibbons maintains affiliation with several organizations, including the American Sociological Association, The Association of Black Sociologists and the American Association of University Women. Well-regarded for her accomplishments, she has been honored with numerous accolades over the course of her career, including the Women Worth Watching Leadership Award and the Black Leadership Award from the Profiles in Diversity Journal in 2022. In accounting for her achievements, Dr. Gibbons is particularly proud to have served as a leader in the federal government. Dr. Youlanda Gibbons has cultivated a career of excellence in the nonprofit industry. In 2012, she founded the Partnership for Inclusion Leadership, where she continues to serve as the chief executive officer and executive director. As the leader of her organization, Dr. Gibbons guides and oversees various nonprofit and civic-minded initiatives, primarily working with the Office of the Secretary, as part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Department of Defense to focus on diversity and inclusion, instruction policy, and military education and training. Adjacent to her primary duties, Dr. Gibbons worked with the U.S. Census Bureau as a diversity strategist from 2013 to 2020. With a keen focus on education, she also excelled as an assistant professor at Georgetown University from 2005 to 2016. Prior to founding her own organization, she worked with such companies and institutions as Curtis Lewis & Associates, the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Maryland.
