Blanco Fossil Museum Crosbyton, TX JOHN SHULSON With over five decades of professional experience to his credit, John Shulson has cultivated a career of excellence in the field of journalism. Since 1974, he has worked as a freelance writer for the Virginia Gazette, specializing in the arts and culture. In more recent years, he has taken to serving as a columnist and correspondent for Virginia Media, which oversees operations for the Gazette, The Virginian-Pilot, Daily Press and Inside Business. Mr. Shulson is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. He worked as a writer for the United States government for 36 years, developing training materials and research papers for the United States Army and Department of Defense. Before beginning his career, he pursued a formal degree at Old Dominion University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, with honors, in 1968. Well-regarded for his accomplishments, Mr. Shulson has been honored with numerous accolades over the course of his career, including a Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Department of the Army. In accounting for his accomplishments, he attributes much of his success to his honesty and the feedback he has received from colleagues and readers. For 60 years, Joe David Taylor has been an award-winning artist. His type font lettering designs are on most computers. He did major historical murals and corporate logos and was a top billboard painter for all major record labels. In Hollywood, he wrote and recorded with his band until several children without fathers adopted him, ending his music life. He has authored 20 books on art, social movements, cooking and paleontology and is currently writing a book on his experience with the Hippies and Jesus Freaks of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1998, Mr. Taylor opened a large non-evolution fossil museum in Crosbyton, Texas. His degree in graphic design and illustration opened doors in paleontology, allowing him to excavate and restore world-class fossils, including the largest mold of fossils at The Waco Sudden Death Mammoth site named a National Park by former President Barack Obama. In 2022, Mr. Taylor received an honorary doctorate in biblical archaeology. He attributes his success to his parents’ Christian faith and hard work ethics.
