He later continued his studies at the University of Hartford, where he received a Master of Business Administration in 1981 and a Master of Science in accounting in 1985. In addition to his academic credentials, he is also a fully Certified Tax Resolution Specialist (CTRS). In light of his academic and professional accomplishments, Mr. La is especially proud to have earned his collegiate degrees and opened his own company. He is also thankful to have developed a portfolio of success while working for himself, having originally worked in the banking industry for many years after immigrating to the United States from Vietnam in 1975. In the coming years, Mr. La looks forward to expanding his company, finding further success in his fields of tax and accounting, and specializing more in the areas of tax audits, representation and resolution. Leveraging several decades of professional experience, Dat Van La is a proven leader in the field of accounting. Since 1993, he has served as the owner of DTL LLC, a public accounting firm that provides various accounting and financial services for individual and corporate clients throughout the Northeastern United States and can be represented in any of the 50 U.S. states as an Enrolled Agent (a Federal Tax Practitioner). Before entering his current leadership position, he operated as a controller, assistant treasurer and executive chief accounting officer for Derby Savings Bank from 1981 to 1993. Additionally, Mr. La was a consultant for Citibank in 1993. As part of his dedication to his profession, Mr. La maintains affiliation with the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers and the International American Association of Finance and Management. Furthermore, he remains active as a civic-minded citizen in his community, regularly volunteering with low-income clinics and local Asian communities.
