She was born in Beijing into a political family in the Nationalist party. Her father was accepted to study at the University of Minnesota for his master’s and PhD degrees in biochemistry and left Beijing in 1948. In 1949, her family had to flee from communism which took over China. Ms. Chang and her family followed Chiang Kai-shek to Formosa (now called Taiwan), an island that belonged to Japan at the time. Ms. Chang and her mother lived with the Chang family until 1955, when they were approved by the U.S. Congress to enter Minnesota to join her father. Ms. Chang was placed in a grade school where she had to learn English by herself, listening to lessons and explanations. After she graduated from high school, she enrolled at the University of Minnesota and earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1970. Her first job was at Burlington Northern, Inc., as an editorial assistant, followed by 3M Company as an editor and senior writer, International Multifoods Corp. as manager of employee communications and St. Paul Public Schools as a communications specialist. In 1992, Ms. Chang founded PR International, a small public relations business, to serve small businesses, particularly minority businesses. PR International joined the PR Collective, which serves as a consortium of small boutique agencies in the U.S. to work with each other and emphasize the importance of small businesses. In 2006, Reed Business Information, Atlanta, offered Ms. Chang a position as the managing editor of Construction Bulletin, a weekly magazine that covered commercial construction projects in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. After some discussions, Ms. Chang accepted the job and downsized PR International. Her most memorable assignment was the weekly online update of the I-35W Bridge from the day it collapsed until the new bridge was constructed. The Construction Writers Association presented an honorable mention award to Construction Bulletin. Puthuff is endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the fields of high technology developments and real estate. His 11 patents, with two patents pending, is a testament to his unique entrepreneurial mentality and provided the basis for his leadership in starting 14 high tech/real estate companies in Silicon Valley, California. Besides the recognition of Marquis Who’s Who, Mr. Puthuff has received India’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize, known as the Priyadarshni Award, and was recognized on the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle as President Gorbachev’s Silicon Valley consultant. He was founder and chairman of Americans for the Success of Peristroika, a group of 10 accomplished business and technology leaders that advised the Soviet Union and Russia on their transition to a world market economy. Mr. Puthuff attributes much of his success to his state-of-the-art education at Arizona State University, where he obtained the knowledge of the latest integrated circuit and transistor theory. This provided the basis for some of his early patents and was the key to launch his career at IBM and later for Memorex. Mr. Puthuff was honored to give the graduation invocation twice at ASU, where he received his BSEE degree. Mr. Puthuff joined the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honorary Fraternity. Mr. Puthuff attributes much of his success to hard work and dedication of his engineering team that followed him from company to company and to his drive to motivate the team to achieve their maximum potential toward shared goals. “We always had a plan,” Mr. Puthuff said. “Sticking to the plan in difficult times and celebrating successes was important.” He continued, “I am a very positive person, and this attitude was very infectious with my team.” Another key to Mr. Puthuff’s success was his patents, which served as the centerpiece of several of his companies. SyberSay, for instance, sold over $100 million dollars’ worth of headsets at Fry’s Electric based on his patents. Some of the highlights of Mr. Puthuff’s career were serving as the chairman of the technical advisory committee for the Department of Commerce under former President Carter and

As Mr. Puthuff puts it, “Life is good, and we have been truly blessed.” then under former President Reagan during the “Star Wars era.” Following this period, while still serving as vice president of engineering worldwide for Memorex, he started Americans for the Success of Peristroika. Mr. Puthuff worked with some of the top minds in America in technology, business leadership, finance, religion and social sciences. The results were such that the Soviets radically changed how technology was introduced into their products and how their financial structure was changed with the addition of private property rights. Another highlight was where Mr. Puthuff was moved when he heard of the 300,000 villages in India, where they had no education. He then started working with the University of Technology IIT in India to develop communications and education capabilities to provide capability in underprivileged areas. Another career highlight was the development and construction of his own shopping center in the small town where his wife, Judy, and he were born and raised in Placerville, California. This started them off with their real estate development interests that grew into National Real Estate Solution (NRES) as president and chief executive officer.
