Jones is a proven leader in the fields of health research and education. Since 2013, she has served as a professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Additionally, she has served as the division and executive director of the UNC Horizons program, a substance use disorder treatment program for women and their children based at the university. Dr. Jones is also an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she originally began her career in 1997. Dr. Jones received a PhD in psychology at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 1997. Well-regarded for her professional accomplishments and scholarly output, she has been honored with numerous accolades throughout her career, including the R. Brinkley Smithers Distinguished Scientist Award in 2020. Attributing much of her success to her perseverance and ability to collaborate with others, Dr. Jones is especially proud to have completed “MOTHER Study” in 2010. She also feels honored to have co-authored treatment guidelines for the United States, United Nations and World Health Organization. PROFESSOR University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chapel Hill, NC Supported by over four decades of professional experience, Dr. Emily Moore has excelled as the founder and executive director of the Alliance Junior Tennis Development Program since 1975. Through her program, she introduces tennis to children and uses the sport to encourage structure and discipline in the children whom she serves. Notably, most of the children in her program go on to attend college on tennis scholarships. Previously, Dr. Moore was a physical education teacher for Ulysses Byas Elementary School until her academic retirement in 2019. During this time, she also served as a varsity boy’s and girl’s tennis coach. Dr. Moore holds a doctorate from Morgan State University. During her undergraduate studies at Morgan State, she was the first of 11 students to be arrested for refusing to leave a segregated movie theater. She has also demonstrated versatility in her field by authoring a poetry book, “Just Like It Is.” A civil advocate, Dr. Moore served in Nigeria as a Peace Corps volunteer.
