47 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT While pursuing his doctorate and working for the Slavic Gospel Association, Dr. Ziebell’s seminar proposal was simultaneously approved by Moscow’s Russian Ministry of Education and the KGB to present business seminars in the Soviet Union. Surprisingly, Moscow specified that the seminars were to be held in Gorky, an exile city for political prisoners that was not accessible to foreigners. Yet, he could not get Moscow to issue an in-country travel visa to Gorky. Therefore, without it, Dr. Ziebell traveled 250 miles to Gorky by car with his assigned Russian seminar sponsor and two translators. Gorky’s KGB issued his in-country visa. of Science and Technology), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering. During employment, he continued his studies at the University of New Haven in Connecticut and received a Master of Business Administration in finance and marketing with distinction. He ultimately concluded his academic career with the Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, where he received his PhD in cross-cultural management in 1972. Many of Dr. Ziebell’s experiences during his time in Russia is told in his 2017 book, “Gorky, Russia; First Man In: Memoirs from Being the First American Allowed Inside Russia’s Closed Exile City.” Twists, turns and surprises run throughout the book. In his other authorial endeavors, he has written such notable titles as 2013’s “My Letters to a Prisoner I Had Not Met: Selections from Over 100 Letters Written in 6 Years” and 2019’s “Click-Click Klein: Whimsical Tales for Youths and Old Timers.” Dr. Ziebell had spent 10 interesting and exciting years as executive vice president of the Slavic Gospel Association until the mission under a new president relocated SGA near Rockford, Illinois. He then became vice president of administration for Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. The mission is the second-oldest U.S. Christian ministry to homeless individuals.
